Arnold Wesker was a British playwright and author, known for his exploration of working-class life and social issues in post-war Britain. Born in Stepney, East London, to a Jewish family, Wesker grew up in a politically active household, which influenced much of his later work. After leaving school at 16, he held a variety of jobs, including as a kitchen porter and carpenter, before becoming a writer. His experiences in these roles provided material for his plays, which often focused on the struggles and aspirations of the working class.
