Synopsis
England, mid-1980s, capturing the angst and aspirations of youth through powerful storytelling
Shaun Duggan, a renowned playwright and television writer, began his career at the age of 16 with the play William, inspired by The Smiths’ song “William, It Was Really Nothing.” Premiered at the Royal Court Theatre Upstairs during the Young Writers’ Festival in 1986, the play reflects Duggan’s early talent for capturing the nuances of youth and societal pressures.
