Synopsis

A park bench at sunset, where two strangers connect in unexpected ways

Milo and Charis, two wounded souls in their late twenties, meet by chance on a park bench. As the sun sets, they engage in a rapid-fire exchange of wit, philosophy, and personal revelations. Milo, reeling from a recent breakup, and Charis, haunted by the loss of her father, circle each other verbally, alternating between sharp banter and moments of raw vulnerability. Their conversation touches on themes of honesty, grief, and the possibility of connection in a world that often feels isolating.

Walls’ dialogue-driven play explores the tension between self-protection and the desire for intimacy. Through Milo and Charis’ evolving dynamic, the play examines how past traumas shape our present interactions and the courage required to open oneself up to new possibilities. Violet Fields offers a poignant and often humorous look at the human need for connection, set against the backdrop of a world that’s constantly in motion, even when we feel stuck in place.
