Synopsis

A modern flat in a large city, where the mundane and the apocalyptic collide in an unsettling twilight.

A Man and a Woman return from holiday to their apartment, engaging in everyday activities while delivering monologues that reveal shocking disconnects between their domestic reality and global catastrophes. The Man imagines himself as a sniper observing protesters in a distant square, while the Woman experiences a surreal moment where time freezes in her office. Their individual narratives explore themes of violence, societal collapse, and personal culpability in a world on the brink.

Thorpe’s experimental play blurs the lines between the ordinary and the extraordinary, challenging our perceptions of reality and responsibility. Through fragmented narratives and a disorienting structure, Victory Condition interrogates how we process global crises from the comfort of our homes, and questions the nature of personal agency in the face of systemic violence.
