Synopsis

In a contested village east of Jerusalem, a married couple’s late-night trysts become entangled with the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Reem and Sayeed, a middle-aged Palestinian couple, navigate the dangers and thrills of dogging on disputed land near their village of Beit al-Qadir. As tensions rise and an intifada looms, their son Jawad becomes embroiled in the accidental killing of an Israeli soldier, Sara Yadin. The play weaves between past and present, reality and imagination, exploring the personal and political ramifications of this act.

Ibrahim’s darkly comic and surreal drama examines themes of occupation, resistance, and the cycles of violence that plague the region. Through a series of vignettes and meta-theatrical devices, the play challenges audience perceptions and questions the nature of storytelling itself. The characters grapple with issues of identity, grief, and moral responsibility in a world where personal choices have far-reaching consequences.

As the intifada intensifies, Reem and Sayeed confront their own losses and the sacrifices demanded by their struggle. The play raises provocative questions about the use of violence, the exploitation of suffering, and the possibility of reconciliation in a seemingly intractable conflict. two Palestinians go dogging blurs the lines between victim and perpetrator, asking whether it’s possible to maintain one’s humanity in the face of ongoing oppression.
