Synopsis

Azusa, 1969

Blue Morphan stirs from a century-long slumber to find himself in a new, bewildering world. Summoned by an alien named Willie, Blue, a desperado from the Old West, joins his brothers Sycamore and Cane in a surreal battle against oppressive forces. Together, they navigate this chaotic landscape where 1880s Western outlaws confront 1960s sci-fi oddities, including deranged cheerleaders and space invaders.

The Unseen Hand by Sam Shepard is a darkly comic exploration of rebellion, alienation, and the clash between past and present. Written in Shepard’s distinctive, absurdist style, the play blends elements of farce and satire, weaving a non-linear narrative that challenges traditional storytelling. The tone is a wild, hallucinatory ride, capturing the essence of counterculture and questioning the dehumanising tendencies of modern society.
