Synopsis

Set in 18th-century Germany, within the confines of aristocratic households.

Läuffer, an idealistic and naive tutor, finds himself in the employ of the von Berg family. Tasked with educating their children, he becomes entangled in the rigid societal expectations and hidden desires that pervade the household. The Tutor, exposes the tensions between personal freedom and social constraints. Läuffer’s burgeoning relationship with Gustchen, the daughter of the family, leads to scandal and tragedy as their secret affair comes to light, challenging the very foundations of the social order.

The Tutor raises timeless questions about the role of education and the constraints of societal expectations. It asks: how far can one go in the pursuit of personal happiness and integrity before the weight of tradition and social order crushes them?
