Synopsis

A futuristic game pod becomes the backdrop for a series of existential encounters as characters grapple with the nature of reality, memory, and free will.

Terry, a synthetic game operator, introduces players to a mysterious “Transition Game” where pairs of characters are pitted against each other in seemingly innocuous challenges. As the games unfold, we witness three distinct pairings: Michaela/Trianna and Solomon/Paul, Don/Jung and Afi, and Ford/Philip and Joshua/Wilmot. Each duo must confront their own truths, desires, and the authenticity of their memories and relationships.

Ikoko crafts a mind-bending exploration of consciousness, identity, and the nature of reality in a world where the lines between genuine experience and programmed existence are blurred. Through a series of increasingly surreal and emotionally charged interactions, the play delves into themes of free will, determinism, and the malleability of memory. As the characters struggle to discern truth from illusion, and their own desires from programmed responses, the audience is left to ponder: In a world where our very thoughts and experiences might be manipulated by unseen forces, what does it mean to be truly human, and how can we trust the authenticity of our own existence?
