Synopsis

A stark, minimalist setting where a blindfolded man sits in silence, his fate hanging in the balance as two menacing figures circle him like vultures

Des and Lionel stand over a blindfolded captive, reveling in their authority and the fear they instill. Through their cruel banter and casual discussion of torture, Pinter exposes the banality of evil and the ways in which dehumanisation becomes normalised in oppressive regimes.

As Des and Lionel debate semantics and revel in their perceived moral superiority, the play delves into themes of political oppression, the abuse of power, and the manipulation of truth. Through this brief but potent work, Pinter offers a scathing critique of authoritarian systems and the individuals who perpetuate them, challenging audiences to confront the dark realities of political violence and oppression.
