Synopsis

The near future – our world, and a digital sphere called the Nether

In a future America, where many live digitally as ‘shades’, Detective Morris dives deep into a virtual mystery. She grills an elderly teacher, Doyle, and a shrewd businessman, Sims, about a virtual realm where guests can harm a young girl’s avatar. But as layers peel back, Morris’s own agenda for this digital domain comes to light.

What our readers say

In a future world, this play weaves two stories together: one of intense real-life investigations and another set in a vast online space called the ‘Nether’. It’s like a detective story for the digital age, tackling big questions about online privacy, reality versus virtual worlds, and the challenges that come with new technology, much like today’s online platforms.

What films or music does it remind you of?

Black Mirror in its style and exploration of ethics of technology, film – ‘After Yang’ in its exploration of technology, family and connection.
