Synopsis
A small town in South Wales, 1962, where the old world clashes with the new.
Ben Morton and his family stand at the crossroads of tradition and progress as their community faces the inexorable tide of modernization. Thomas’s razor-sharp wit and keen observational skills bring to life a Welsh working-class family grappling with the erosion of their familiar way of life.
The play crackles with tension as characters debate the merits and costs of progress. Thomas’s dialogue seamlessly blends humour and pathos, exposing the raw nerves of a community in flux. Through the Mortons’ struggles, the audience witnesses the broader socio-economic upheaval of post-war Britain, where industrialisation and modernisation threaten to sweep away long-held values and identities.
