Synopsis

A minimalist setting where multiple voices engage in a meta-theatrical dialogue about constructing a narrative.

In this experimental piece, Crimp presents a group of unnamed characters collaborating and conflicting as they attempt to craft a scene involving a woman, a glass of Coke, and an iron bowl. The play unfolds through rapid-fire exchanges, with the participants constantly interrupting, questioning, and refining each other’s ideas.

As the narrative evolves, it takes on increasingly dark and surreal elements, culminating in an image of self-immolation within the bowl. Crimp’s dialogue crackles with tension, exposing power dynamics and gender politics within the group. The seemingly innocuous task of storytelling becomes a battleground for control and expression.

Through this unconventional structure, Crimp explores themes of collective creation, the malleability of narrative, and the violence inherent in language and imagery. The play’s form mirrors its content, with the characters’ struggle to agree on details reflecting broader issues of consensus and conflict in society.
