Synopsis
Spanning a decade, three continents, and multiple crises of faith, a woman grapples with love, ethics, and the complexities of modern life.
In 2001 New York, Sophie and Tom face a crossroads when his advertising job conflicts with her moral principles. Meanwhile, Sophie’s father Edward, a progressive Anglican bishop, contemplates leaving the Church over its stance on homosexuality. As relationships fracture and reform over the years, Sophie pursues justice globally while Tom chases success, their paths diverging and reconnecting amid personal and societal upheavals.
Alexi Kaye Campbell’s ambitious play explores the intersection of faith, ethics, and capitalism in the 21st century. Campbell weaves together themes of religious doctrine, corporate responsibility, and human connection, questioning whether faith – in God, in each other, or in humanity itself – can survive in an increasingly complex and morally ambiguous world.
