Synopsis

A hospital, dimly lit with the tired, pale green hue of nausea spreading across the floor.

Inua, the narrator, stands at the cusp of an emotional outburst, tethered to a long lineage of troublemakers. From the dusty streets of Nigeria to the bustling corners of London, his life is a tapestry of escapades and poignant moments. The protagonist’s journey is traced through vivid anecdotes that paint a picture of a young man grappling with identity, heritage, and the inevitability of facing his past.

Inua’s stories are filled with humour and resilience, weaving through themes of cultural identity, migration, and family legacy. His narration is a blend of spoken word and rhythmic prose, creating an engaging and dynamic storytelling experience. The play’s structure is episodic, moving non-linearly through time and space, reflecting the fragmented and multifaceted nature of memory and identity. Ellams’ tone is both reflective and rebellious, capturing the essence of a young man caught between worlds, yet finding his place through the tales he tells and the heritage he embodies.
