Synopsis

A kaleidoscope of London and New York, from intimate bedrooms to bustling New Year’s parties.

Leela stumbles upon her husband Bentley’s infidelity at a raucous New Year’s bash, setting in motion a whirlwind exploration of love, betrayal, and cultural identity.

As secrets unravel and loyalties are tested, the play hopscotches between continents, juxtaposing the frenetic energy of urban life with moments of quiet introspection. Leela’s journey from London’s heartbreak to Jamaica’s healing shores forms the emotional core, while the supporting characters grapple with their own demons of desire and disappointment. Pinnock’s razor-sharp dialogue crackles with tension, exposing the raw nerves of racial dynamics and personal identity in a world where connection is both longed for and feared. Through a series of intimate encounters and charged confrontations, Talking in Tongues paints a vivid portrait of the human heart in all its messy, contradictory glory – forever seeking understanding in a cacophony of mismatched languages.
