Synopsis

North London, 1996, in a world where youth and charm are both an asset and a liability.

Charlie, a charming and somewhat aimless twentysomething, drifts through life seducing and irritating women while philosophising about existence. His casual affairs and pseudo-philosophical musings conceal a deeper existential insecurity, highlighted by his failed relationship with Toni, a young nurse. As Charlie navigates his emotional and romantic turmoil, he is surrounded by a cast of characters, each grappling with their own disillusionments and desires.

Sweetheart is a vivid, character-driven exploration of love, youth, and existential dread, laced with humour and an underlying melancholy. It received praise for its authentic portrayal of young adulthood and the subtle depth of its characters.
