Synopsis

A school playground on a bright sports day morning, filled with excited children and nervous energy.

Abi, a young girl determined to win her race, arrives at school ready for sports day. Her main rival is Sophie, who beat her last year. As the girls line up for the 100-metre sprint, Abi notices Sophie’s little brother Matthew running towards the main road. In a split-second decision, Abi abandons the race to save Matthew from danger.

Anya Davies’ Sports Day Life Saver is a heartwarming tale about sportsmanship and doing the right thing. Through Abi’s choice to help Matthew instead of winning the race, the play explores themes of kindness and heroism. Sophie’s gesture of giving Abi her medal shows how good deeds can bring people together. The story reminds young audiences that there are more important things than winning, and that true victory comes from helping others.
