Synopsis

London, 1977

Sleak! captures the raw energy and rebellious spirit of the punk rock explosion. This provocative production follows the turbulent life of Norman Sleak, a fictional rock star teetering on the edge of self-destruction. Performed by the satirical comedy rock band Alberto y Lost Trios Paranoias, the musical blends biting humor with high-octane performances.

Set in the gritty underbelly of the 1970s music scene, Sleak! offers a scathing critique of celebrity culture, media sensationalism, and the dark side of fame. Through its irreverent comedy and pulsating soundtrack, the play exposes the music industry’s exploitative practices and society’s morbid fascination with fallen icons.

Sleak! enjoyed a successful run at London’s Royal Court Theatre and the Roundhouse before crossing the Atlantic to New York’s Privates in 1980. This cult classic remains a potent reminder of punk’s ability to shake the foundations of popular culture and theatre alike.
