Synopsis

A Seven-Eleven convenience store becomes the nexus of violence, desperation and shattered dreams in Mexico City.

Bastard, a charismatic but dangerous criminal, manipulates his young protégé Jesús into helping him rob and murder an elderly woman. As they hide out in Bastard’s basement with Paulina, Bastard’s reluctant accomplice, and a kidnapped Boy, tensions rise and loyalties shift. Meanwhile, the characters grapple with their own desires for connection and escape as an unprecedented snowfall blankets the city.

Olivares’ gritty urban drama unfolds through a series of taut, dialogue-driven scenes that oscillate between the claustrophobic basement hideout and the familiar refuge of the Seven-Eleven store. The play’s visceral exploration of power dynamics, cycles of abuse, and the corrupting influence of violence is punctuated by moments of dark humor and unexpected tenderness. Through its unflinching portrayal of marginalized characters driven to desperate acts, “Seven-Eleven” offers a searing critique of socioeconomic inequality and the breakdown of moral values in contemporary Mexican society.
