Synopsis

New York, 1990s

Martin Mirkheim is a desperate businessman whose dreams are rapidly slipping through his fingers. In Search and Destroy, we follow Martin as he embarks on a darkly comedic and perilous quest to transform his life by making a movie based on a self-help book by the enigmatic Dr. Waxling. Driven by an obsession with success and recognition, Martin’s journey is marred by deceit, manipulation, and even murder. His relentless pursuit reveals the ruthless underside of the American Dream.

Search and Destroy by Howard Korder is a biting commentary on ambition and the moral compromises people make in pursuit of their goals. The play unfolds through a series of short, sharp scenes that highlight Martin’s descent into a world of corruption and despair. The narrative style is episodic, reflecting the chaotic and fragmented nature of Martin’s life. With a tone that oscillates between dark comedy and intense drama, the play offers a scathing critique of the greed and superficiality that pervades modern society.
