Synopsis

Schlep with Nick is an immersive storytelling piece created and performed by Nick Cassenbaum, centred around the rich, cultural narratives of Stamford Hill and South Tottenham’s Jewish communities. This unique performance weaves together stories collected from conversations in cafes, kitchens, and old people’s homes, capturing the essence of everyday life through unseen emails, arguments, and answerphone messages. With live Klezmer music, the play is not just a stationary performance but a dynamic experience that moves through different locations, starting at Markfield Park Cafe.

Schlep with Nick explores themes of community, identity, and the passage of time, presenting a vibrant tapestry of Jewish life over the past 60 years. The storytelling style is intimate and interactive, inviting the audience to engage creatively with the spaces and narratives. The tone is both reflective and humorous, offering poignant insights into the lives and histories of the people within these communities.
