Synopsis

In the soon-to-be-demolished Sacred Heart church hall, four old friends reunite after nearly two decades, confronting the remnants of their pasts and the shadows of unresolved conflicts.

Patrick and Jerry have an unexpected reunion along with their friends, in the church hall where they spent their youth. This gathering, filled with nostalgia and tension, forces them to face the bitter memories and unresolved issues that have lingered over the years. Patrick and Jerry’s reunion is particularly fraught, as time has not healed the wounds between them. As the characters navigate their shared history, they struggle to break free from the legacies that continue to shape their lives.

Sacred Heart delves into themes of friendship, memory, and the inescapability of the past. The play’s narrative is driven by sharp dialogue and the complex dynamics between the characters, capturing the essence of old friendships strained by time and unspoken grievances. Mahoney’s writing is noted for its authenticity and emotional depth, offering a poignant exploration of how the past continues to influence the present.
