Synopsis

In a seedy, graffiti-strewn apartment in a city teetering on the brink of change, the dynamics of power, identity, and self-destruction play out in stark relief.

Nick is a young man grappling with the expectations placed upon him by society and his own internal turmoil. He oscillates between moments of vulnerability and aggression, trying to carve out a sense of self in a world that seems intent on confining him. The interactions with his friends and the older generation highlight the stark contrasts in perspectives and the struggles inherent in bridging those gaps.

The play explores youthful rebellion, identity crisis, and the disintegration of social structures. Poliakoff’s writing captures the chaotic energy of a generation in flux, using sharp dialogue and vivid character portrayals to draw audiences into the tumultuous world of the protagonist. The play is noted for its unflinching portrayal of the struggles of young people in a rapidly changing society, reflecting broader societal tensions of the time.
