Synopsis

Paradise Regained” by Mark Ravenhill is a short play that serves as the epilogue to his larger work, “Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat.” This series of plays was first performed across various London venues in 2008 and explores themes of freedom, democracy, and the West’s urge to impose these ideals globally.

The play was performed at the Royal Court Theatre from 30th September to 4th October 2008. It was commissioned by the Golden Mask Festival in Moscow and fits into the broader narrative of “Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat” by examining the consequences and ironies of Western interventionist policies.

“Paradise Regained” is a compact, twenty-minute piece that complements the thematic elements of its predecessor, focusing on the societal and personal impacts of these grand political ideologies
