Synopsis

Owners revolves around Marion, an ambitious and aggressive woman who owns a property development company, and her contrasting relationship with her passive and compliant ex-husband, Alec.

The play opens in a butcher’s shop owned by Clegg, an unscrupulous character who reflects the theme of ownership in a more literal sense. The narrative unfolds through a series of interactions among various characters, including Lisa, Marion’s friend who grapples with the societal pressures of motherhood and marriage, and Worsely, a young man who represents the changing face of property ownership.

Overall, Owners is a complex play that uses character relationships and interactions to explore deeper themes of control, power dynamics, and societal expectations, all set within the context of property ownership and personal relationships in modern England.
