Synopsis

An abandoned butcher shop/farm on a remote mountain

John Daniel and his wife Noni cling to the remnants of their lives on Bear Ridge, a remote mountain butcher shop and farm now abandoned and surrounded by a post-apocalyptic wasteland. As they reminisce about their lost world and their deceased son Twm Siencyn, they’re joined by Ifan William, their faithful slaughterman, and a mysterious Captain – a soldier who appears at their door. Together, they navigate the hazy boundaries between memory, identity, and survival in a world that has moved on without them.

Thomas crafts a haunting, poetic exploration of language, memory, and cultural extinction. The play’s dreamlike atmosphere blends moments of absurdist humor with deep melancholy, as the characters grapple with the loss of their way of life and the erosion of their native tongue. Through lyrical monologues and fragmented conversations, Thomas paints a vivid picture of a dying culture desperately holding onto its past, while an uncertain future looms just beyond the snowy horizon.
