Synopsis
Sam sits at his cluttered desk, the harsh glow of his computer screen illuminating his anxious face. The play opens in the bustling offices of Doghouse, a salacious men’s magazine where the lines between decency and exploitation blur. Sam, a young, eager intern, unwittingly selects a topless photo of a fourteen-year-old girl for publication, setting off a chain reaction that exposes the dark underbelly of the magazine industry.
Kirkwood’s incisive writing and dynamic characterisations lay bare the personal and professional compromises that define the media landscape. The play’s title is a stark reminder of the blurred boundaries between private integrity and public consumption in a world driven by sensationalism and scandal.
