Synopsis

Dani slumps against the cold car window, her hoodie a shield against the world, as her father drives them through the night to a house filled with unfamiliar faces and the cloying scent of grief. In the chaos of her Auntie J’s sudden death, this teenager finds herself adrift in a sea of whispered conversations and badly sung hymns, desperately searching for answers in the corners of rooms she once knew by heart.

Through Dani’s eyes, we’re plunged into the raw, messy reality of loss. The play thrums with the discordant rhythms of a family in mourning – the jarring laughter of distant relatives, the muffled sobs behind closed doors, and the deafening silence of unspoken truths. As Dani and her Uncle Pops fumble through their pain, the spectre of Auntie J’s struggle with PTSD looms large, a shadow cast over every memory and unanswered question. With each revelation – a discarded note, a whispered confession – we’re drawn deeper into the complex web of family secrets and the weight of words left unsaid.
