Synopsis

A small, impoverished village in India

Mark is on a desperate quest to find his wife, Jane, who has mysteriously abandoned their young son to care for destitute children in India. The play is a gripping exploration of Western guilt, cultural clash, and personal redemption.

As Mark confronts Jane in this foreign land, he is bewildered by her inability to explain why she left or what compels her to stay. The narrative unfolds against the backdrop of the Indian village, where Jane’s work with local children starkly contrasts the comfort of their previous life. The tension between the couple, the cultural disparities, and the intense heat and poverty of their surroundings all serve to amplify the play’s central themes of moral responsibility and the search for meaning.
