Synopsis

Petrograd, 1918

Ludmila Mukovnina navigates a perilous existence amidst the wreckage of post-revolutionary Russia. Entangled in a toxic relationship with the manipulative Dimshits and subjected to the violent advances of the brutal Captain Viskovsky, she struggles for dignity and survival. Her plight reflects the broader disintegration of her once-privileged family.

This dark drama explores themes of power, betrayal, and survival. Employing a non-linear narrative, Babel creates an atmosphere of intense moral ambiguity. The play’s tone is stark and haunting, rich with symbolism and stark realism.
