Synopsis

Donnelly family are reeling from the return of Lori, a teenager who has come home after a suicide attempt while away at university. As the family grapples with the emotional aftermath, they struggle to connect with each other and address the underlying issues that have led to Lori’s breakdown. The play is set in the family home, creating an intimate and claustrophobic atmosphere where secrets are revealed, and relationships are tested.

The play explores themes of mental health, family dynamics, and the pressures of adolescence. It employs a linear narrative with realistic and heartfelt dialogue that captures the raw emotions of the characters. The tone is both tender and intense, reflecting the complexities of familial love and the struggle to understand and support one another in times of crisis. Caldwell’s writing is deeply empathetic and insightful, offering a powerful commentary on the impact of mental illness on individuals and their loved ones.
