Synopsis

A colonial bungalow in the Dum Dum district of Calcutta, 1981

Last Dance at Dum Dum brings to life the vibrant yet fading world of an Anglo-Indian community in the Dum Dum district. The residents, a group of quirky characters, grapple with their colonial past and uncertain future. Violet clings to British traditions, Daphne swoons over French music, Elliot’s fashion choices raise eyebrows, and Muriel’s fiery spirit challenges any threat to their world.

Amidst their nostalgic bubble, the play subtly weaves in themes of identity, change, and the encroaching wave of Hindu nationalism. It’s a mix of humor and history, showing a community at a crossroads, clinging to a bygone era while the world outside transforms.
