Synopsis

Tools Gunstone is a psychologist deeply embedded in the challenging and multifaceted world of a correctional facility. Tools is drawn into the undercurrents of prison life, witnessing the challenges, conflicts, and occasional camaraderie that define the inmates’ existence. The drama skillfully portrays the impact of the prison environment on the psyche of its inhabitants, highlighting the thin line between order and chaos in such a setting.

The play, written by Frank Norman and first performed in 1969, is not just a story about a prison; it’s a study of human resilience, adaptation, and the search for identity in extreme circumstances. The characters, from the authoritative figures to the marginalised inmates, represent a microcosm of society, each grappling with their own demons and desires.
