Synopsis

London, 2000’s

Joey navigates a tumultuous path, seeking solace and understanding amidst the chaotic and fragmented world he inhabits. His interactions with characters such as Colin, Maureen, Trevor, Ronnie, Kate, Shanika, and the Priests reveal the complexities of his emotional landscape and the profound impacts of kindness, connection, and loss. Joey’s journey is a poignant exploration of human vulnerability and resilience, as he grapples with personal demons and the broader societal turbulence.

Set against the backdrop of a contemporary, fragmented society, the play delves deep into themes of mental health, family dynamics, loneliness, hope, and the small, often overlooked acts of kindness that can profoundly affect people’s lives. Eldridge’s masterful writing and the play’s intense, raw portrayal of Joey’s struggles and fleeting moments of human connection create a powerful and evocative theatrical experience.
