Synopsis

A countryside walk

Daughter and her Mother share an afternoon walk that quickly becomes a heartfelt and often contentious dialogue about their differing views on politics, life, and family. Against the backdrop of a picturesque walk through the countryside, they engage in conversations ranging from light-hearted banter to deeply personal confessions. Their talk moves from playful interactions about wellies and dog leads to heated discussions on taxation, government control, societal issues, and their personal ideologies.

As they navigate through topics like social justice, government policies, and personal responsibility, the generational and ideological gap between them becomes apparent. The Daughter’s passionate pleas for empathy and systemic change clash with her Mother’s more conservative, pragmatic views. Through these exchanges, the play explores themes of family dynamics, generational conflict, and social justice, all set within the intimate and familiar context of a mother-daughter relationship. The emotional weight of their dialogue peaks with recollections of a lost family member, illustrating their shared grief and love despite their differences.
