Synopsis

In a modest English kitchen, the clink of teacups and rustle of funeral programs mask the sound of hearts quietly shattering.

Tommy’s absence looms large as his family busies themselves with the meticulous details of his send-off. His mother polishes the good silver with trembling hands, while his sister arranges flowers, each stem a silent scream of grief. In the pauses between tasks, the weight of unsaid words hangs heavy in the air, threatening to crack the veneer of British stoicism.

I Can Hear You peels back the layers of mourning etiquette to reveal the raw nerves beneath. As casseroles arrive and condolences are murmured, the women of Tommy’s family find themselves suffocating under the expectations of their prescribed roles. A perfectly arranged sandwich platter becomes a battlefield of identity, each bite of repressed emotion threatening to choke them. Crowe’s keen eye for the minutiae of grief creates a world where the supernatural and the mundane collide, asking us to listen closely to the voices society has long silenced.
