Synopsis

A remote Arctic tundra

Nanook and Nuna are two polar bear parents trying to raise their cubs, Tikaani and Sura, in a world where the ice is melting and their way of life is under threat. As the family struggles to find food and shelter, they must also contend with the encroachment of human activity and the changing climate, which adds a layer of tension to their already perilous existence.

Hicks’ play is a poignant exploration of the intersection between nature and modernity, examining themes of survival, family, and the impact of environmental change. Through the lens of the polar bears’ daily lives, the play highlights the challenges faced by wildlife in a rapidly changing world.
