Synopsis

A cramped London flat, where personal space and attention are scarce commodities

Carol and Nick, a young couple, navigate the treacherous waters of modern communication while sharing a small flat with Carol’s four-year-old daughter, Sharon. As they struggle to be heard and understood, their attempts at connection often result in frustration and alienation.

Crimp’s minimalist style expose the gulf between what is said and what is meant, creating a claustrophobic atmosphere where every interaction is laden with subtext. Through a series of tense, often darkly comedic scenes, Getting Attention explores themes of miscommunication, media influence, and the commodification of personal experience. The play serves as a biting commentary on a society where the trivial often drowns out the significant, and genuine human connection becomes increasingly elusive.
