Synopsis

A dilapidated farmhouse in high-desert mountains

Dilan, a 21-year-old white man, and Kyle, a slight 13-year-old Black boy in foster care, spend time together in a dilapidated farmhouse. Dilan tries unsuccessfully to hook up outdated electronics, ranting about his desires to become a police officer and move out of the small town.

Through its sparse setting and dialogue, the play creates an atmosphere of gritty realism and underlying menace. Themes of poverty, crime, masculinity, racial tensions, sexual violence, and the failures of the foster care system emerge.
