What our readers say

“Fireworks” unfolds in a clear, step-by-step manner, weaving three intertwined stories from two families living in the same building. Amid the backdrop of conflict in Palestine, the play delves deep into the impact of war on local families, particularly on children whose young lives are fragmented by its effects. The dialogue may seem quirky, but it’s layered with hidden emotions that lie just beneath the surface.

What is it like reading this play now?

The play feels still incredibly relevant especially because even though it highlights the specific conflict in Palestine, it examines the human cost to war and conflict by exploring the effects on two families and young people who are effected by the war.

What does it tell us about the past and the present?

“Fireworks” has a timeless quality. While it underscores the persisting issues in Palestine, its broader portrayal of war’s impact on families gives it universal resonance. It’s a testament to how art can capture the enduring human spirit amidst conflict, making it ripe for revival in any era.
