Synopsis
A squatter camp
Wilfred, a conservative and traditional man in his early thirties, strives to remain youthful and contemporary. He performs magic and clowning acts on the streets to entertain and earn a living. His partner, Cindy, who appears older due to her worn-out clothes, shares a shack with him in a squatter camp, symbolising their hard life. The arrival of Wilfred’s young, hip cousins, Ken and Notice, introduces new dynamics and challenges into their cramped living space. The narrative unfolds around their daily struggles, hopes, and dreams, particularly focusing on their quest to secure a proper house.
The play explores poverty, family, hope, and struggle. The play vividly portrays the harsh realities of living in a shanty town while highlighting the resilience and aspirations of its characters. Through a blend of magic realism and poignant drama, the story captures the emotional and social struggles faced by those on the margins of society.
