Synopsis

Etta arrives in Los Angeles with dreams of becoming an actress. However, she soon finds herself drawn into the seedy underbelly of the adult film industry. Etta’s character evolves throughout the play, reflecting the harsh realities of her experiences. She begins as a naive and hopeful individual but becomes increasingly hardened and disillusioned as she confronts the brutality and exploitation inherent in the industry she has become a part of.

“Etta Jenks” is a powerful critique of the objectification and commodification of women’s bodies, as well as a commentary on the destructive nature of Hollywood’s darker side. Meyer’s writing is unflinching in its portrayal of the characters’ grim realities, offering a stark, unromanticized look at a world where dreams are often shattered by harsh truths.
