Synopsis

The Royal Court Theatre Upstairs,

Mike Stott’s Erogenous Zones was a series of subversive sketches inspired by American strip cartoons. Scheduled for the new Theatre Upstairs, which provided a space for experimental work from new writers, this avant-garde piece blended love and violence in a cartoonish style that challenged theatrical norms.

Stott’s play eschewed traditional narrative for a rapid-fire series of vignettes that satirised relationships and societal expectations. Erogenous Zones exemplified the experimental theatre of the late 1960s, pushing boundaries and provoking audience reflection on the darker aspects of human interaction.
