Synopsis

Hadia, a young woman in her mid-twenties, grapples with emotional emptiness as she works as a companion to an old man known as “The Master,” who suffers from loneliness and age-related illnesses. Parallel to her is Jaser, a man in his late twenties dealing with the withdrawal following his mother’s death while working in a laboratory. Their paths cross at a herbalist’s shop, leading to a series of poignant and absurd interactions, highlighting their struggles with isolation and societal expectations. The play unfolds in episodic scenes, painting a vivid picture of their crises and the stark realities of their lives.

The play explores class, social inequality, family, and marriage. Through its darkly comedic lens, Eygptian Products explores the emotional and psychological burdens carried by the characters. The interactions between Hadia and Jaser, as well as the secondary characters, underscore the pervasive sense of loneliness and the desperate search for connection in a fragmented society.
