Synopsis

Edmond Burke, a seemingly ordinary man, plunges into a nightmarish odyssey through the dark underbelly of New York City. Seemingly dissatisfied and disillusioned with his mundane life, he impulsively abandons his wife and embarks on a quest for meaning and excitement. This journey swiftly descends into a series of violent and dehumanising encounters, from seedy bars and brothels to a brutal confrontation with a pimp.

As Edmond’s experiences grow increasingly harrowing, he grapples with themes of alienation, existential despair, and the pervasive violence of urban life. Each interaction strips away layers of Edmond’s identity, revealing the deep-seated prejudices and fears that drive his actions. Mamet’s sharp, staccato dialogue and unflinching exploration of the human condition make “Edmond” a disturbing yet compelling examination of one man’s unraveling psyche.
