Synopsis

Dublin, the present

Cat is a young woman with big dreams but tangled in complex relationships and circumstances. Nicknamed “Duck” by her boyfriend, Cat is surrounded by a cast of vividly drawn characters: her middle-aged lover who drinks and writes books, her best friend Sophie who deals with a psychotic mother, and a boyfriend embroiled in a dangerous world of nightclubs and guns.

As Cat and Sophie teeter on the brink of adulthood, they confront the harsh realities of their city and the expectations placed upon them. In a world where their elders are not always the best role models, the girls must find their own way to cope or escape. The narrative explores themes of friendship, love, betrayal, and the quest for identity against the backdrop of a gritty urban landscape.
