Synopsis

A call center in Chennai, India

Avinash, a worker at a call centre, alongside his colleagues Giri and Ross, attempts to collect unpaid bills from American customers. As Avinash navigates the cultural and ethical dilemmas of his job, he becomes increasingly entangled in the lives of his distant clients, revealing his own vulnerabilities and moral conflicts.

The play explores themes of globalisation, cultural identity, and the human cost of economic disparity. As Avinash struggles to balance the demands of his job with his family’s expectations and his own aspirations, the tension mounts, leading to moments of both comedy and profound introspection. “Disconnect” paints a vivid picture of the intersection between personal ambition and the dehumanising aspects of global capitalism, set against the backdrop of a rapidly modernising India.
