Synopsis

A vibrant, cardboard-crafted world unfolds on stage, where everyday objects transform into a whimsical evolutionary playground.

Judith Martin leads a merry band of performers through the fantastical realm of Dandelion, a children’s play that turns the sprawling epic of life on Earth into a series of charmingly bite-sized skits. From the primordial soup to the complexities of human culture, this theatrical romp uses paper, cardboard, and boundless imagination to bring evolution to life. Watch in delight as a bewildered fish, forced from its overcrowded ocean home, comically flops its way onto land and slowly transforms into a jubilant frog, all through the magic of creative storytelling and ingenious prop work.

Brimming with humor, music, and vibrant performances, Dandelion tackles weighty concepts like reproduction, race, and communication with a light touch that captivates young minds. Martin and her ensemble, dubbed the Paper Bag Players, craft a world where science and whimsy coexist in perfect harmony. Through their deft use of familiar materials and childlike wonder, they demystify the grand processes that shaped our world, inviting audiences to see the extraordinary in the ordinary and fostering a love for both theatre and the natural world.
