Synopsis

A quaint country inn becomes the stage for a farcical comedy of errors in 1920s England.

Peter Wykeham and Marguerite Hickett find themselves in a pickle when stranded at an inn run by the prim Mrs. Spoker, who only allows married couples to stay. Forced to pose as husband and wife, they set off a chain reaction of hilarious misunderstandings and chaotic scenarios, especially when their actual spouses and other colourful characters descend upon the establishment.

Travers’ witty dialogue and fast-paced plot shine a comedic light on the absurdities of social conventions and the lengths people will go to maintain appearances. The play deftly handles themes of mistaken identity, social propriety, and the chaos of deception, all while keeping the audience in stitches.
