Synopsis

The Wounded, an anxious individual struggling to access their true self, is the central figure in Mika Onyx Johnson’s surreal and emotionally charged play “CAP: A Medicinal Love Story.” Set in a space that oscillates between nature, the surreal, and a messy flat, the play follows The Wounded as they navigate therapy, their inner demons, and external influences. The narrative unfolds through interactions with various characters, including their Therapist, multiple roommates who represent aspects of their psyche, and other impactful figures from their past and present.

The play explores themes of mental health, self-discovery, and healing. It is a drama with elements of theatre of the absurd and dark comedy, structured in a non-linear narrative that vividly portrays the fragmented and tumultuous journey of The Wounded. The setting is a dynamic and symbolic space filled with eclectic elements such as mushrooms, processed snacks, and multi-colored dildos, reflecting the chaotic inner world of the protagonist.
